Levelling Up Social Housing Stock

Main Banner

Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Michael Gove is promising tough action to bring housing association properties up the decent homes standard. Despite a 10-year target set out by the government in 2010 to improve social housing, it is estimated that over 2 million homes still not come up to scratch. There is a massive backlog of overdue repairs. Ministers are running around like headless chickens trying to catch up and get rid of the backlog. They are replacing double glazing, kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, fencing, boilers, and heaters etc.
